Preliminary Task - Evaluation Notes
Glyn and Sam’s evaluation
Intro
Hi I’m glyn and directed PTTE
Hi I’m sam and i produced and filmed PTTE
In PTTE we had 2 actors, they were Jordan Forshaw and Ryan Smith.
To increase the realism of our production we selected Jordan on the basis that he his part of Sawtry CC’s drama group.
In pre-production we were given the brief that 2 people were meeting in a room.
Our first step therefore was to think of 2 exciting or interesting characters
We also wanted an interesting and gripping twist
We aimed to do something unique and individual.
We thought of a father and son
A broken romance
A schizophrenic man talking to his imaginary lover
We decided on a hostage situation where a mourning family member seeks revenge for his father’s death. Howevre the twist is that the arrogant victim is innocent all along and the mourning son has lost his mind.
What institution?
If PTTE was produced into a film we feel it would be most suited for Paramount Pictures.
We had trouble choosing an institution however.
We felt BBC had too wide a range of ethnicities therefore our film wasn’t suitable.
We saw PP has a long history of producing films that fit the action genre better.
Our film fits this genre as well
Examples include The Godfather and Indianna Jones
Audience?
15 certificate
Violent characters (age+)
One character is aggressive
There is a death
Excluded location- no way out- trapped
If we were stereotyping genders we would say predominately male
Not necessarily suitable for anyone over 50
How did we address the target audience?
Male characters
Fast paced
Towards the teenagers- we used similar aged actors
On set:
Problems- we had to change location last minute due to false information given to us about the site availability
Adjusted well but the new location was smaller, giving us less room for cameras
We initially planned to use 2 cameras but due to overbooking we were only provided with one.
This lengthened the time of the shoot and limited time to get all the shots we wanted.
One of our actors only told us on the day of our shoot that he had to leave earlier than we anticipated, this confused our schedule as we had to film his lines first.
The chase:
My target level for the chase was 3A-4
Sam did not take part in the chase but he aimed to get a level 3 in his first production.
My 2 levels for improvement were to take more of a leading role in post production, this was the same for sam as the software was brand new to him.
Sam also wanted to learn how to use the camera’s and take a leading role onset. He got this opportunity as we booked the cameras a day early so that he could take it home and get familiar with it all.
My other target was to be more time- efficient this meant being more effective in pre-production which although wasn’t perfect i like to feel i did improve.
How have we improved?
I took a leading role in post-production
Sam has learnt how a production is made and has taken a vital role in all of the stages.
As the most experienced partner I felt i had to take a more leading role in all stages, including planning and asking actors.
Successes:
We stuck close to our script
We were very happy with the script
In post-production when we reviewed our footage we were very happy with some of our shots
Including the opening dutch tilt and one of the over the shoulder.
We obeyed the 180 degree rule
Fulfilled brief
Sam got is first experience of filming on a set
I for the first time took a leading role in post-production
Things to change:
More thorough pre-production
Double check availability of cameras and locations
Give ourselves longer filming time
Otherwise we are very happy with our production and it was due to a successful well balanced team we created.
Preliminary Task - Poster Task
Here is my first initial poster:
Then We decided this wasnt't up to the correct standard so we improved and came up with the final poster of this:

1 | Dutch angle of Fred | Shows a state of confusion. |

7 | Wide shot |
Preliminary Task - Team work
Me a Glyn took a share in the work he predominately completed the script and 3/4 of the schedule, I then took images of our recce and then we produced a story board from this to finally create 3 established products.
Overall I think that the work we have done is very good and we are working effecient and effective together.
